Junior Athletes

Welcome to our vibrant youth section at Droitwich Athletics Club! Whether you're taking your first steps in athletics or aiming to sharpen your skills, we're here for all aspiring athletes aged 8 to 18. Our friendly community is dedicated to nurturing young talent across Droitwich, offering progressive training in running, jumping, and throwing.

A NOTE ON OUR JUNIORS TRAINING
(UPDATED 3rd JUNE 2026)
We plan to restart the DAC junior training sessions on Tuesday 23rd June at 6:30pm.
 
As per the England Athletics insurance we can only accept children over the age of 8. We're building up a team of coaches, but at the start we'll have limited capacity so will be restricted to a maximum of 30 children, depending on the coaches availability.
 
We will be using the app Spond to manage the sessions going forward. This can be downloaded from the Android or iPhone app stores or accessed via the web - Spond. Please create an account and then join the group with the code FHPGR - Spond.

You should register your children, but with yourself as a guardian as this will enable the coaches to be able to reach out to you whenever required.
 
We'll set up each session as an "event" within Spond & the children will need to be booked in to attend their sessions. This will then be used as a register, with non-attendance tracked to ensure the best availability for the children.
 
We've decided we'll have to charge £3 a session - this will need to be paid via Spond when you book onto a session.

Competitions

Join us for a thrilling athletic season! During the Spring and Summer, compete in the Heart of England Athletics League for track and field events. When Autumn and Winter roll around, tackle the challenges of the Gloucester Cross Country league and showcase your versatility in the UK Athletics Sports Hall competitions.

Training Sessions

  • Meet us every Tuesday evening at the High School Athletics Track. Training runs from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

  • Outdoor sessions continue on the track as long as daylight allows. As evenings grow darker, our younger athletes move indoors to the Sports Hall. Older athletes will continue their training on the track.

  • Each fun and engaging session is only £2!

Coaching and Safety

Our coaches are passionate about athletics and hold UK Athletics coaching qualifications, ensuring high-quality training. They are also fully DBS checked, prioritising a safe and supportive environment for all.
